NextGen PAC President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez released the following statement:
“No other vice president in history has held the gavel when Congress certified their loss to an incoming president who refused to concede a previous defeat. Exactly four years ago, a mob of Trump’s supporters stormed the Capitol to disrupt the Electoral College count and attack our democracy. Ultimately, our commitment to democracy proved stronger than the angry mob, and the results were certified. Today, Vice President Kamala Harris will uphold our proud American tradition of a peaceful transition of power.
“No matter who is in power, NextGen America remains committed to advancing our youth agenda priorities. Whether it’s fighting for economic justice, stopping corporate greed, protecting our personal freedoms, or tackling the climate crisis, young people won’t stop advocating and organizing for change. Since his electoral victory, Trump has already walked back promises made on the campaign trail, appointing the richest cabinet in history and making excuses for not lowering grocery prices. Trump has made it clear he does not plan to govern with everyday Americans in mind. In the months ahead, we will shine a light on the Trump Administration’s attempts to operate behind smoke and mirrors. Together, we will demand accountability from our leaders and work each day to build the country and future we believe in.”
